EXCELLENT Based on 9 reviews Posted on John SimmonsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Quite simply, Ash put together the most fantastic holiday for us. His love of Sri Lanka shines through from his knowledge of history and culture, through to his encyclopaedic knowledge of wildlife, particularly the birds. We toured from coast to mountain, visited temples and went on safari…and more besides. Two particular high points for me were seeing an endangered sea turtle lay eggs on the beach, and punting around a lagoon in silence spotting a miriad of beautiful birds. Thanks Ash… you have created memories of a lifetime.Posted on Joel SleighTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ashan put together a bespoke itinerary for our family, mixing culture, nature, adventure and relaxation. From our first interaction with Ashan, he listened to our wishes to tweak the itinerary, and we met Ashan over Zoom before we left the UK. He provided a wonderful chauffeur/guide (Nalin) who took really good care of us. Ashan was also very attentive while we were in Sri Lanka, checking in to make sure everything was going well, and taking the time to drop in to meet us in person in Habarana. We could not have asked for anything more, and we had a fabulous time – thank you, Ashan!!Posted on Asha LynchTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you want to see Sri Lanka, then using Experiential Traveller, specifically Ashan as your tour guide, is a MUST! My husband went to Sri Lanka on a school trip, and Ashan was one of the guides. While there, he and my husband began talking about coming back to see the country, he so obviously loves, with me. He said he could put together any type of trip to any area in the country, and that was no lie. No matter what you want to do, Ashan can arrange it. My husband and I returned to see the country of Sri Lanka focusing on the culture. I am unable to walk long distances, and Ashan created an itinerary that accommodated my needs. In creation of the trip, Ashan came up with wonderful hotel choices and day trips to temples and sanctuaries, that it was almost too hard to decide. However, I now realize that no matter what my choice would have been, it would have been a good one. Ashan arranged a private car and the the driver, Harith, was very safe. That being said, the main purpose of this review is to express how much Ashan took pride in his country, and how grateful I am that we got to share the experience with him. Not only is he knowledgeable about the history of Sri Lanka, he is also a conservationist, which meant we learned so much about the traditions, the animals, and how it all ties together. Again, if you are thinking of visiting Sri Lanka, contact Experiential Traveller and Ashan to guide you.Posted on Rachel MaddenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our group had such an amazing weekend with Ashan in Sigiriya! He was so knowledgeable and kind, and even brought us to the best breakfast/lunch spots around the area. He was easy to chat to and his English was perfect. He accompanied us up both Pidurangala rock for sunrise and Lion’s rock later in the day. He also showed us around Dambulla temple and we learned so much! Would definitely recommend him to anyone considering a tour in the area.Posted on Callum HuntTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ashan was our tour guide for a two week cycle tour of Sri Lanka. I found him to be the perfect guide. His knowledge and passion for Sri Lanka made him an excellent travel companion. Ashan’s English was first class, and it was easy to chat and joke with him. We were a group of 8 cyclists, and Ashan quickly learned our names, and treated us all as individuals. Ashan was caring and attentive to our needs. He patiently answered our questions, and was a walking encyclopaedia of knowledge! Ashan has an obvious enthusiasm for nature, wildlife and sustainability. For example he was able to identify birdsong very quickly (corroborated by my phone App), and was an excellent companion to have with us on our visits to nature reserves. Every location we visited, whether cultural, historical, religious, nature reserve, or archeological; Ashan was there to ensure we made the most of our time there. He was also good at ensuring he got the pace and level of detail right. Ashan was helpful in sorting out restaurant recommendations and onward travel advice / bookings for after our trip with him had finished. His customer service was first class. I found Ashan to be very likeable, and he quickly felt part of our group. I would highly recommend him as a guide for any trip to Sri Lanka. I wish him all the best for his career as a guide and as an unofficial ambassador for Sri Lanka.Posted on JörnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Tim CorriganTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ashan looked after us and another family we were travelling with for a 2 day leopard trails trip including bush walk and safari. He was extremely professional, kind, helpful and knowledgeable and attentive to all our needs. He was great with the kids as well (2x 5 year olds) and tailored the experience for the needs of our group. Highly recommended.Posted on Karen BlythTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ashan is a great guide! I have had him accompany me on 3 different experiences in Sri Lanka - an evening boat ride in Sigiriya, a morning wetland walk in Colombo and an overnight visit to the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, all of which were fantastic. Ashan is knowledgeable, well spoken and passionate about the history and wildlife of Sri Lanka and worth bringing along on your chosen adventure on this beautiful island.
EXCELLENT Based on 49 reviews Posted on Carolyn SVerified 13 day tour of Sri Lanka We have just returned home after the most incredible trip to Sri Lanka, thanks to Ashan our wonderful guide and Leyon our amazing driver. Ashan organised a bespoke itinerary, having listened carefully to our interests and expectations. Ashan organised a mix of history and culture with fascinating visits to temples, ancient sites, Sigiriya Rock Fortress and a beautiful performance of traditional dancing and drumming. We also requested opportunities to see wildlife and weren’t disappointed. We were rewarded with the sighting of a Sloth bear and many other indigenous animals and birds at Wilpattu National Park. We also had the most wonderful time watching the gathering of over a hundred elephants grazing in the evening light at Minneriya NP. A most memorable experience! Ash also arranged a sunset boat trip to Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary where we were delighted to see kingfishers a plenty and so many other species of birds to tick off in our bird book! Ash demonstrates and is keen to share his extensive knowledge of Sri Lankan birds and wildlife but also plant, trees and flowers too. In Tangalle, we were privileged to witness a sea turtle dig her hole in the sand, lay her eggs, cover them and return exhausted back to the sea. We especially enjoyed a train ride through the tea plantations and misty mountains from Nanu Oya to Ella. In Nanu Oya, Ash also made it possible for us to visit some family graves dating back to the 1880s, a special moment for our family. We finished our tour with a visit to Galle and a stay in Colombo.Ash always ensured everything ran smoothly, was a great communicator and took great care of us. He was always calm, professional and adaptable. We could not have had a better experience, all thanks to Ash and Leyon. We would love to return one day, and absolutely would choose Experiential Traveller again and recommend them to all our friends.Posted on Joel SVerified 15 days in Sri Lanka Ashan put together a bespoke itinerary for our family, mixing culture, nature, adventure and relaxation. We did the sunrise boat ride and it was so worth getting up early for. Birds are just waking up and you hear a lot of them chirping. We saw a lot of different birds and a water monitor. Our guide Thusitha was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He provided a brief description about each bird and we could also use binoculars to look at them. We were provided with authentic Sri Lankan red millet pancakes and tea for breakfast. Thusitha also taught my daughter to make a necklace from a water lily. It was such a peaceful and authentic experience that teaches you to appreciate simple things in life. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this part of Sri Lanka.Posted on Joana BVerified Lori watching We went to see the Loris in the evening and the tour guide was very knowledge and made a big effort for us to find them. We only managed to see one Lori but we saw it very close which was amazing, we understand how difficult it is to spot them.Posted on Joana BVerified Elephant tour Driver was very nice and profissional. Did a big effort to find elephants and we manage to see many. The park was very busy but our driver knew all the spots and roads. The park should control the amount of Jeeps that enter, it feels that it can be a little bit overwhelming for the elephantsPosted on Rohan aVerified A gem of an experience Really enjoyed this experience - it was a real highlight for us in Sri Lanka. We had Thusitha who really knew his stuff and we saw many birds on the lake. We saw a beautiful sunset. The whole experience was so serene and we are so glad that we did it.Posted on BrandyladyVerified Interesting tour We visited here on our private tour of Sri Lanka as this was included in the original ( suggested ) itinerary. The Jeep (. 4 x4 ) was quite high with a ladder at the back to get into it ….not the easiest I have to say for a senior citizen ….but got there! The trip was good …. The guide and the driver were both very quick to spot any wildlife and birds . A very enjoyable afternoon. Saw a family of black bears .Disappointed we didn’t see elephants, but hey ho,,, they are apparently more active at night ! … confirmed by the electric fences around houses in the area having been erected to stop them ransacking their garden at night .Tip 1)- Do not wear white trousers as the soil is red due to iron oxide and the bottoms of my trousers were very messy with climbing in and out of the vehicle with the soil on the ladder ! I know from previous experience this is difficult to remove from white trousers !2) bring a snack with you … it’s a long tour with nothing available en route …… we hadn’t eaten since breakfast and were in need of somethingPosted on Asha LVerified If You Are Looking to Travel to Sri Lanka - You MUST use Ashan and Experiential Traveller! We were a group of 3 and went on the boat with this experienced tour guide and a gentleman who rowed us around for sunset. As soon as we got out on the water, our guide Thusitha instantly began pointing out a large variety of birds, some found only in Sri Lanka. He had a book with him to show us which birds we were seeing, along with some excellent refreshments (fresh pineapple juice and biscuits). We slowly made our way around the lake and Thusitha gave us some great history of Sigiriya. We eventually ended up under a tree to watch the sunset. Despite the rain and cloudy sky, we still got a gorgeous glimpse of the sunset. The view coupled with the beautiful sounds of the birds, it was truly an unforgettable experience and would highly recommend.Posted on OliveVinoVerified A very special morning! We were taken out to the lake early doors by our lovely guide, Thusitha! It was pitch black when we left and the bird noises were incredible. As it got lighter, we were then able to see all the lovely birds and nature. It was a very peaceful and beautiful experience. Thusitha also made some delicious pancakes and coffee for us which we enjoyed onboard. We would definitely recommend this ❤️
